The Postmarks Project

The postmarks project is a collection of correspondence produced for Lee Miguei’s ongoing conceptual piece, The Living Room Project at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum  in Boston, Massachusetts. The inspiration for postmarks came from Mrs. Gardner’s own collection of art and letters.

The ISGM is a unique institution, holding Isabella’s collection nearly exactly as she left it in 1924. Her perspective has been preserved in themed rooms stuffed to the brim with art, artifacts and personal effects from historically relevant artist, her idols, and friends. In that spirit, over several months I wrote to artists who inspired me to pursue art, inviting them to send me small pieces so I could share my influences and perspective with museum guests.

The project can be viewed in it’s entirety at postmarksproject.com.
